Diathermy is the electrocoagulation treatment of telangiectases or vascular blemishes commonly known as broken capillaries, spider veins, spider nevi, blood moles and blotches
Telangiectasia can appear as dots, blotches, spider, linear or lightning bolt shaped
Diathermy can treat the face, neck and décolletage and is performed using a fine probe penetrating the vein to a depth of a sheet of paper, the probe delivers 2 electrical currents until cauterisation of the blood vessel is achieved. Cauterisation usually takes no more than a few seconds per 2-4mm section, we then move to the next section and so on until the session is over
Diathermy appointments take 30 minutes and in most cases, the veins we are working on only need one treatment
Clients with excessive telangiectases such as the first picture above, will need multiple treatments spaced at 6 week intervals, clients with few telangiectases can expect to have few treatments
